New phone with M365 MFA (multi-factor authentication)
This solution cannot be carried out if you have changed to your new phone and are being prompted for MFA. If that is happening please inform EU IT Support.
Log in to your Microsoft account at office.com
In the top right hand corner, click on your icon (either your picture or your initials), then select view account.
Under Security Info, click on UPDATE INFO.
You might have different results in what you see here. The default method of setting this up is by using the Microsoft Authenticator App, so these are the steps that follow.
If your old phone is no more used by you, find your current Microsoft Authenticator entry and click to Delete
To add the new phone, first of all make sure that you have the correct app to link to your account. Currently the image in Google Play or the Apple iStore appears like this:
Once you are sure you have the correct app, click on Add Method from the Security Info screen.
Select Authenticator App from the drop down
It will then remind you about having the app installed in your phone.
Follow the rest of the instructions, linking your phone using the QR code shown on the screen. This will link your Microsoft account with your new phone!
